Inventory Confidence with Drone Volumetrics
Accurate inventory is the heartbeat of bulk material businesses. At HoverPoint Drones we use the DJI Matrice 4E and an Emlid RS3 Base to measure stockpiles with speed and precision so yard managers close the books with confidence. The result is cleaner counts, fewer write offs and clear documentation that supports both operations and finance.
The Matrice 4E captures high resolution imagery that converts into true scale orthomosaics and surface models. Because the camera uses a mechanical shutter our maps are crisp and consistent which is essential for reliable pile boundaries and toe lines. We fly structured grids that deliver dense overlap so the three dimensional reconstruction has the detail your team expects.
Repeatability is where the workflow shines. We record flight paths and control points so each count lines up with the last one. Month after month managers can see how volumes change by material and by location. This clear trend line improves ordering decisions and makes production meetings shorter and more focused.
Safety improves as well. No one has to scramble across unstable piles or climb heavy equipment just to take a few measurements. Our pilots remain clear of loaders and haul trucks while the Matrice 4E gathers everything needed in a single session. In busy yards that is a real gain.
When a site includes conveyors crushers or hot plant equipment we bring the DJI Matrice 4T for context photography and close visual checks. The wide and tele lenses document critical areas without interrupting work. If a client asks for temperature context around process gear we can add thermal panels to the report, though most volumetric counts rely on visual data alone.
Delivery is simple and fast. Clients receive a labeled overview map per pile volumes in a clean CSV a surface model for engineering teams and a concise PDF that summarizes methods accuracy and totals. We also provide a web viewer so supervisors can explore the yard in a browser without special software.
For executive or customer facing updates we add FPV video clips from the DJI Avata 2. These smooth flyovers show the yard layout and pile status in a way that static images cannot match. The visual story helps everyone understand what changed since the last count.
Whether you manage aggregate asphalt, cement or mulch our volumetric service keeps inventory clear and defensible. With the Matrice 4E for mapping the Matrice 4T for targeted thermal visuals and the Avata 2 for storytelling your team gets numbers that stand up in meetings and in audits.
